About Us
The Urhobos are an ethnic group in southern Nigeria, residing near the northwestern Niger Delta.
They are the largest ethnic group in Delta State and speak the Urhobo language.
The Urhobo population is around 7 million.
Urhobo Community in Manchester and Greater Manchester is a community
that promotes Urhobo Unity, Diversity, Culture, and Tradition.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
OUR PURPOSE
We are to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by working with people in Manchester and
Greater Manchester who are socially excluded on the grounds of their ethnic origin, religion,
belief or creed (in particular, members of the Urhobo community) to relieve the needs of such
people and assist them to integrate into society, in particular by providing a local network group
that encourages and enables members of the
Urhobo community to participate more effectively with
the wider community. Besides, we are to advance a community-based waste management programs and
sanitation services for the benefit of the public, in proper handling of waste to reduce
environmental pollution and improve air quality in Manchester and Greater Manchester
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
OUR OBJECTIVES
We support socially excluded persons in our communities and advance a community-based waste management
programs and sanitation services for the public benefit of Manchester and Greater Manchester , with aims
to create a more inclusive community and clean environment. To achieve ensuing purposes, we shall:
(a) Support inclusive initiatives for youth groups and seniors' networks, with aim to collaborate social
groups for benefit of exchange of ideas and community development.
(b) Partner with local religious centres, businesses, cultural groups to run joint social programs on
job readiness with digital skills for benefit of socially excluded people.
(c) Run workshops for Urhobo language learning that specifically encourage people from different backgrounds
to join, voluntarily.
(d) Set up social gathering (last Sundays of every month, except December) where everyone is invited,
including marginalised groups of elderly, disabled, immigrants, other minorities.
(e) Provide relief materials for those lonely, homeless, improvised and immigrants who are refugees in
our community,
(f) Bridge support to access recreational facilities in the interests of social welfare with the purposes
of improving conditions of life of socially excluded persons in our community.
(g) Support specialised health and wellness programs tailored to the needs of seniors, such as fitness classes
and mental health support, especially those of 65+ and above.
(h) Lead clean-up drives at parks and streets in our communities to promote environmental-friendly
sustainable practices within the community, in waste recycling, energy conservation.
(i) Organise recycling campaigns - teach people how to separate plastics, glass, paper, food waste, etc.
(j) Set up collection points for things like e-waste, used batteries, or old clothes by proper segregation,
collection, and disposal, in reducing pollution.
(k) Promote composting at home and community gardening.
(l) Hold educational workshops on reducing, reusing, and recycling and address environmental concerns such
as pollution, green space preservation, and sustainability initiatives.
(m) Collaborate with local authorities to improve waste collection and recycling facilities.
(n) Teach youth and children of the Urhobo language and culture to avoid risk of our native language extinction.
